Oh my fucking word
Guys - check this out.
Bearing in mind, for those who either do not know or who have memories like a seive, the following;
(a) I applied for job in Antarctica
(b) The position was at Davis station
(c) I would have been down there by now - shipping in around Oct-ish 2005
(d) I got down to the final two people (and underwent lots of testing)
(e) The guy that got the position ahead of me was nuts and a stalker (as evidenced by lots of weird emails to your truly)
Australian death in Antarctica 'suspicious'
January 6, 2006 - 6:14AM
Police are investigating the death of a tradesman at a remote Australian base in Antarctica.
The Australian Federal Police say the death of Peter Orbansen at remote Davis Station is being regarded as suspicious. "The investigation into the suspicious death in Antarctica is still ongoing and it would be inappropriate to comment," AFP spokesman told newspapers. The 43-year-old Queenslander's body was found on November 19. Initial reports suggested his death was suicide, the paper said, but the investigation remains open. His body was returned to Australia last week aboard an Antarctic vessel which docked in Fremantle. It was released by the coroner on Wednesday and returned to his family yesterday, the newspaper report said. Davis Station is a scientific staging post inhabited by about 60 people. Kim Pitt, Australian Antarctic Division general manager operations, said police conducted a long distance investigation and had not travelled to Antarctica.
